Opening of a New Modern ERC Subdivision in Klaipėda

	The subdivision will gradually take over the administration of emergency calls from half the area of Lithuania (Klaipėda, Telšiai, Tauragė, Šiauliai and Panevėžys counties) and operational management of fire and rescue forces and emergency medical forces on the territories of Klaipėda, Telšiai and Tauragė counties.

	In 2011, plans are to launch the information system at 60 operator workstations in the ERC regional subdivision in Vilnius, in the new building for ERC and for the fire-fighting brigade currently under construction in Antakalnis residential district, Vileišio Street. This subdivision of ERC will gradually take over administration of emergency calls from the other half of Lithuania (Vilnius, Utena, Kaunas, Alytus and Marijampolė counties) and operational management of fire and rescue forces and emergency medical forces on the territories of Vilnius and Utena counties.

	At present, ERC responds to emergency calls in the area of 38 municipalities (which are home to over 75% of the Lithuanian population) and performs operational management of fire and rescue forces on the territory of 31 municipality. At peak times each official at the ERC responds to 30 emergency calls and generates eight reports to emergency services on the need for assistance per hour on average. Since its start of operation, ERC has already responded to more than 10 million emergency calls.

The Customs System by ERP Launched in Tajikistan

	“We won the tender because we have unique experience in developing systems adapted to European and Asian customs unions. ERP has already developed various customs systems in Lithuania, Belarus and Kazakhstan, and this experience was used“, says Markas Zbarskis, CEO of ERP.

	The project valued at USD 6.2 million is financed by the Government of Tajikistan and the Asian Development Bank. The contract for the development of the system was signed a year ago. The pilot version of the system is currently operating at the Dushanbe Customs Office and it will cover all the customs posts in December.

	“This is yet another proof that we have sufficient intellectual potential in Lithuania not only to perform works for foreign companies but also to independently develop a high-level product”, states Markas Zbarskis.

	The unified customs information system automatically records and systematizes all information on cargo flows in Tajikistan. Until now declarations in this country have been filled in manually, and there have been significant delays in providing summarised data to the management and other institutions. Upon the implementation of the new system, it will be possible to know the actual situation regarding cargo flows and how much tax has been collected on that particular day.

	In addition, the risk management system based on “artificial intelligence” developed by ERP, which enables to automatically identify suspicious declarations, has been installed here as well.

	The new system will simplify the work not only for customs workers but also for cargo carriers – following its implementation the single-window principle will be established in the customs.

	Tajikistanis the third Asian country where ERP has been actively operating. Besides Tajikistan, large projects are being implemented in Kazakhstan and Kirghizstan. In addition, the company operates actively in Ukraine, Georgia, Belarus, Latvia, and other foreign countries.

	ERP is one of the largest information technologies and business consulting companies in Lithuania. The company is an official representative of SAP and business and information management systems EMC Documentum. The company is currently implementing a dozen of large business management system installation projects not only in Lithuania but also in the Central Asian countries, Georgia, and Belarus.

	The company has its offices in Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Tajikistan and Finland, and it is active in other foreign countries as well.

	The values declared by the Lithuanian capital company ERP include ecology, public spirit, and social responsibility.

The EU Finances the “Smart” Customs System Developed by ERP

	“This will be a system based on artificial intelligence, which will be able, according to certain declaration, cargo, operational information and other data sources, to detect violations of the customs procedures such as smuggling and misrepresentation of the value of goods in order to evade taxes”, says Markas Zbarskis, Chief Executive Officer of ERP.

	The projections are that the system development works will cost over LTL 4 million; LTL 1.7 million has been allocated from the EU Structural Funds.

	“We will invest the remaining amount ourselves. We have unique experience, we have developed different systems for the customs in Lithuania, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, and thus we do not have any reservations regarding the success of this system”, Markas Zbarskis is convinced.

	The risk management system developed by ERP will allow sorting out potentially fraudulent declarations and recommending the actions for the checking of declared cargo and accompanying documents. “Seeking to pay lower taxes, entrepreneurs tend to be very resourceful. It is not a secret that often imported goods are declared as other goods to which lower taxes are applicable. It takes a long time to detect such “niches” and people are simply unable to quickly process a large quantity of data. Based on analytical models, the developed system will be able to detect the risk of covered goods in the early phase”, tells Gediminas Vedrickas, Manager of the Solution Management Group at ERP.

	Declarations will be checked according to a variety of parameters and different risks will be detected. Advanced methods of solutions management and data analysis – the main components of artificial intelligence – will be used for risk assessment.

	According to the system developers, this will be one of the most advanced systems in the world and conform to all the risk management recommendations of the World Global Customs Organisation. Furthermore, it is noteworthy that the product being developed is a common risk management platform, which will allow resolving various risk-related problems in the chosen industries, for example, finance management, telecommunications, insurance, etc.

A honourable award has been surrendered to ERP by Kazakhstan

	So far, our system has been operating at the three largest Customs posts in Kazakhstan, however, it is going to be implemented in the remaining ones even this year. I can maintain boldly that currently it has been one of the most advanced system all over the world, the other countries have already been interested in it, for example, Australia, “ – Mr. M. Zbarskis asserts. The developed system has been implementing the risk management recommendations by the World Customs Organization.

	The Risk Management System developed by ERP permits to select automatically the possibly deceitful Customs entries, recommend the verification actions related to a declared cargo and attached papers. There was a case in Kazakhstan, when the merchants had been declaring imported textile goods as a fabric for the production of sacks for a long span of time, to which smaller import duties had been levied. They managed to detect this risk of covered goods only some time later, when the statistical data related to the export and import countries were compared. The developed system, based on analytical methods, is able to detect a risk of covered goods at the early stage and the Customs officers are automatically warned about such entries. However, it has just been only one of the examples, the entries are being verified pursuant to various parameters and different risks are being detected. Advanced solution management and data analysis methods have been employed during the risk assessment procedure – which are the major components of artificial intellect“ - Manager of ERP Solution Management Group, Mr. Gediminas Vedrickas, asserts.

	It has not been the only ERP system developed to Customs Offices. The Company has also developed various systems for the Customs Offices in Lithuania, George, Tadzhikistan, currently the system is being developed for the common Russian-Belorussian customs sector.

	ERP has been one of the largest IT and business consultation companies in Lithuania. Currently the company has been involved in several implementation projects related to large-scale business management systems not only in Lithuania, but in the Asian countries, Georgia and Belorus as well.

	The Company has had the official representative offices in the Ukraine, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Belorus, Latvia, Finland and it has been actively operating in Estonia, Great Britain, Poland, Kirghizia and other foreign countries.

	The values declared by the Lithuanian capital company ERP are: ecology, public spirit and social responsibility.

	“I believe we won this tender due to our great experience in implementing analogous systems. ERP had developed various Customs Systems in Lithuania, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and this experience will be successfully employed”, - claims Mr. M.Zbarskis.

	The goal of this Project is to establish a unified Information System automatically recording and classifying all data about cargo flows within Tadzhikistan. Up to the present day, declarations in this country have still been filled in by hand and generalized data reaches the Government and other authorities behind time. Having implemented the new system, it will be possible to know a real situation of a certain day about cargo flows, amounts of collected duties. Moreover, there will be the Risk Management System created by ERP implemented allowing easier identification of suspicious declarations.

	The new system will facilitate both the work of Customs officials and cargo carriers – its implementation in the Customs will validate the One Window Principle.

	Tadzhikistan is the third Asian country already where ERP begins its activity. Besides the projects in Tadzhikistan, ERP performs them in Kazakhstan and Kirghizia as well.

	The Vilnius Municipal Emergency Medical Services Station has a total of 39 ambulances.
Although some of the newer ambulances already had GPS receivers, up till now none of the ambulances operated by the station could use GPS navigation due to the fact that maps were not installed and development of related software was not completed.

	The fully functional GPS navigation systems donated by ERP will be installed in seven intensive care and three regular ambulances.

 “We think that businesses must be civic minded in the face of the current economic crisis and, if there is such a possibility, to provide aid to institutions facing a financing gridlock. Maybe someday that GPS will rescue lives of my family,” said Markas Zbarskis, ERP General Director.

	ERP participated in the development and installation of the 112 Emergency Response Centre in Vilnius and is currently continuing development in this area. A system to allow all ambulances to use GPS navigation should have been implemented this year at the 112 Emergency Response Centre. However, funding cuts due to the financial crisis have put this work on hold.

	Therefore, ERP as a socially responsible company, decided to donate mobile GPS navigation systems to the Vilnius Emergency Medical Services Station. The Station can use these mobile systems until such time that the main system comes on line.

	ERP encourages our employees to balance office work with physical activity by offering an official salary bonus to all employees who sign statements indicating that they work out at a gym, sports club or swimming pool no less than twice a week. Additional bonuses are offered to employees who actively participate in our corporate sports teams, e.g. ERP’s Floorball Team.

	We also encourage our employees to reduce their risks of heart disease, cancer and other serious illnesses by giving up tobacco use entirely. We recognise the rights of non-smokers to a smoke-free environment and all of ERP’s offices in all of our locations are strictly non-smoking. At the same time, we also recognise the rights of our smoking employees, who are provided with appropriate smoking areas, away from our non-smoking workforce. Employees who do not smoke now receive an official on-going pay bonus. Additionally, current smokers who quit will not only receive on-going bonus pay, but a one-off bonus for quitting.

	In terms of occupational health and safety, ERP is organising periodic workshops and seminars on how our employees can help ensure a safe and healthy working environment, starting with statutory occupational health and safety issues and running to stress reduction workshops.

	This programme has been implemented as part of ERP’s overall commitment to our workforce and to being an Employer of Choice in the markets in which we work.

ERP - “Ecofriendly” Consulting

	In terms of paper consumption, conservation measures including transferring as many transactions as possible into purely electronic form, combined with in-house recycling of office paper has allowed us to reduce overall consumption of paper dramatically, as compared with 2006.

	While our overall number of staff has increased by 20% since December 2006, we have successfully reduced our overall paper consumption by 24%. Paper use per employee has dropped by 37%.

	Steps taken to reduce solid waste production, not including reducing office paper consumption, include:

 Recycling of newsprint and other printed paper;

 Replacement of single-use plastic cups with glass and paper;

 Ensuring that obsolete or non-functional computers and electronic components are delivered to authorised electronic waste processing centres.

	To reduce the energy and carbon impact of our operations, ERP has taken active steps to ensure that:

 Our corporate automobiles are all less than five years old and are equipped with fuel conservation and catalytic conversion equipment;

 Office equipment is fully shut down at the close of business, e.g. not leaving PCs in standby mode;

 Air conditioning usage in our offices is limited to holding a temperature of 21 degrees Centigrade;

 International travel is limited to the bare minimums needed to ensure business operations; and

 International travel, where possible, is done using eco-friendly airlines, using modern aircraft.

Solution: Skype and eRoom integration

	Business Challenge

	Instant messaging using Skype is becoming an evermore popular tool not only for personal use, but also in small and large companies and government institutions as a means of quick communication and reducing telephone expenses. While Skype chats and calls are an effective tool for sharing information, it presents a unique challenge to both organizations wishing to keep messaging records for their own operational purposes, and those companies who must have clear audit trails for all electronic communications for compliance with Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley.

The concept of a workplace has changed from a few people sitting in the same building, to large groups of people spread across several buildings, cities or even continents. Technology has transformed communication from just voice or ink on paper to a wide range of formats containing words, pictures and sounds – all of which must be stored, cat¬alogued, registered and made easy to find and use both for operational reasons, and, for compliance with legal requirements for publicly traded companies under Sarbanes-Oxley and comparable EU Member State legislation.

	Skype-eRoom Integration Plug-In is a software solution which integrates Skype into the eRoom environment. This allows using eRoom as a unified collaboration platform, containing not only content, but also recording and indexing Skype text, video and voice conversations for future reference and auditability.

	ERP's Skype-eRoom integration plug-in helps solve these concerns by allowing Skype and Documentum eRoom users to:

 Start Skype text chat, audio and video conversations directly from the eRoom environment;

 Record all text, audio and video conversations and archive them in eRoom for future reference and audit trails;

 Integrate Skype and eRoom contact lists, adding other eRoom users who have Skype accounts to Skype contact lists.

	Solution

	Skype-eRoom Integration Plug-In is a software solution which integrates Skype into the eRoom environment. This allows using eRoom as a unified collaboration platform, containing not only content, but also recording and indexing Skype text, video and voice conversations for future reference and auditability.

	Out of the box functionality includes the following:

 Starting Skype from eRoom environment - the Skype logo appears directly in upper eRoom toolbar. Pressing it starts Skype-eRoom plug-in, which also launches Skype if it is not already running;

 Using Skype functions directly from eRoom environment - it is as easy to start your conversations from eRoom as launching Skype from the Windows QuickLaunch bar;

 Storing Skype text, audio and video conversations in eRoom environment - all conversations started via the plug-in are stored in the eRoom from which the plug-in was started;

 Adding eRoom users to Skype contact list via plug-in - there is no need to search for an eRoom user's Skype username as all people using same eRoom are shown in the plug-in window and are two mouse clicks away from your Skype contact list.

Joint Stock Company ERP has just completed the development and implementation of a Track & Trace Information System in the Republic of Georgia

	This system will be a key tool in the fight against contraband and falsified excised products, including cigarettes and other tobacco products by allowing Georgian officials to immediately determine if a particular package of tobacco products was produced or imported legally and whether all applicable excise taxes and duties have been paid. The hundreds of system users include all tobacco manufacturers, importers, wholesalers and distributors in Georgia and abroad, who are tasked with providing information on their products and affixed excise stamps.

The use of state of the art communications technologies including GPRS/EDGE/3G, light-weight client software and mobile computing devices allows excise inspectors to access the system for information on particular shipments from anywhere in Georgia, enter information on suspected or proven violations, and, receive notifications of shipments, entities or geographic areas at highest risk for contraband or falsified products.

This system will not only help protect the interests of Georgia, but also of all of the players in the tobacco market by helping to ensure fair and equal competition and eliminating illegal products.

Ongoing works include the integration of state of the art RFID technology to allow for better tracking of tobacco shipments by not only state officials, but also tobacco manufacturers and wholesalers. The following stage of the project will mark the first large-scale implementation of RFID in Georgia and has been well-received by both the Government and manufacturers, who will benefit from more transparent logistics processes.

ERP is pleased that the system implementation process has gone smoothly and will bring direct, measurable benefits to the Government and economy in Georgia, which ERP views as a strategic market.

	ERP and Asseco Slovakia will start their co-operation with the introduction of the StarINS insurance solution to the Baltics market. The StarINS product is a complex information system for insurance companies, built on principles well proven in our banking-oriented product family StarBANK. Since 1996 it offers to its users the benefits of a broad range of product features for life and property insurance. Asseco Slovakia recently introduced the new version 3.0 of the StarINS product. As its predecessor, it provides a consistent customer-centric (or better partner-centric) image of complex relationships between insurance partners, documents and events. Transformation to a multi-tier application with a thin client built on the Microsoft .NET development platform plus utilisation of latest technologies further enhances its product value. StarINS V3.0 efficiently automates operational processes of an insurance company, increases the level of comfort and security and, at the same time, lowers the administration requirements.

	StarINS V3.0 is a fully featured comfortable product with flexible mechanisms for the creation of life insurance products. Using thin client technologies of the .NET architecture, we have extended the StarINS V3.0 to include mobile access, creation of mobile offices and support for remote offices.

	StarINS V3.0 supports:

 management of insurance contracts;

 management of partners and other co-operating entities;

 management of payments and insurance accounting operations;

 management of insurance claims;

 management of commissions and reserves;

 management of investments with investment insurance contracts;

 management of reinsurance;

 management of users and access rights;

 management of system parameters.

	Control parameters may be conveniently modified, which speeds up definition and modification of insurance products and reports. This includes automation and scheduling of processes (i.e. correspondence) in batch mode or on an individual basis.

	The insurance and finance consulting professionals at ERP evaluated a range of software solutions for the insurance industry and have come to the conclusion that StarINS is one of the best products available on the world market today. Wishing to provide the best services to the Baltic market, ERP chose Asseco Slovakia as a partner for solutions in the banking and insurance sectors.

ERP turnover increases 700%

	“We can also say that ERP has an appropriate specialisation – assisting our clients in making the most of current IT investments, and provision of qualified consultancy services in the selection, implementation and support of business & information management systems,” said M. Zbarskis.

	Consultancy services also contributed to the growth of ERP - “Consultancy services to link business strategy and functional management with IT strategy is an inseparable part of our projects. We firmly believe that information technologies must be used in a manner consistent with business strategy and support achieving business strategic goals. In our analysis services, our consultants pay particular attention to the identification of business needs and the business model itself, which forms the foundation for the implementation of business management systems.”

	According to the ERP director, another contributing factor to the firm’s growth was expansion to neighbouring markets, with provision of business management system implementation and maintenance services to firms in Latvia and Estonia. ERP is currently implementing several projects in neighbouring Baltic States. A large percentage of turnover was comprised of consultancy services in SAP and Documentum system implementation, consultancy services export and training.

	Further expanding its participation in markets abroad, and considering increased demand for services, ERP Lithuania is planning on a turnover exceeding 12 M LTL in the Baltic States this year. “Our clients respect ERP’s professionalism. Without a doubt, the demand for our services is increasing due to the fact that ERP has assembled one of the most highly qualified teams of IT professionals in Lithuania and is constantly investing in the professional development of our staff,” said M. Zbarskis.

	ERP’s main focus is the provision of consultancy and implementation services for business management and information management systems, including their support and training services. ERP is the official partner of several world leaders in business and information management systems, e.g., ERP is the official partner of SAP and Documentum in Lithuania.

In addition, and in co-operation with schools of higher learning, ERP has started a programme for the development of advanced technologies, including the opening of the first laboratory of this kind in Lithuania – the Innovation Lab. Co-operation with schools of higher learning and international firms should lead to the first innovative solutions being brought to market in 2005.

	ERP activities in 2004 included systems implementation and consultancy projects in public institutions, the services, logistics and manufacturing sectors. ERP’s largest projects included consultancy and systems development services for the 112 Emergency Call Centre in Lithuania; business management system implementation in postal and logistics firms, IT strategy and e-banking implementation for the largest shipyards in the Baltic States and in the energy sector; document and content management requirements definition in the banking and financial services sector; consultancy services in the field of invalidity pensions; information systems integration and electronic public services systems modelling.

	ERP currently has 27 professional employees.

ERP at event "e-City for All: A Vision of Modern Vilnius in the Virtual World"

	At this event, ERP Department Director Adamas Ilkevicius delivered the keynote presentation The Concept of E-Government and Technical Implementation Possibilities. During his presentation, Adamas stated that e-government should be understood as the application of Internet and information technologies to public administration, in combination with organisational changes with the purpose of improving public services, democracy and strengthening public policy support. The presentation provided in-depth coverage of the political and social basis for e-government, various e-government service models, and the advantages of using SAP technologies to implement the e-government concept.

	E-government is viewed as the best solution for increasing the efficacy of public administration through the use of e-tools. This use of information and telecommunication services is a valuable aid in building stronger relationships between the consumers, partners and suppliers of public services; and gives both citizens and businesses in Vilnius new ways of effectively communicating with public institutions.

	This seminar provided a forum for representatives of both the public and private sectors to become familiar with various e-government implementation practices, including presentations by international firms on the building of e-cities. Recommendations were also delivered by representatives of institutions administering EU funds on how these funds could be used to sponsor the development of electronic services and related IT infrastructure.

	Immediately after the seminar, round table discussions were held to encourage IT and telecommunications providers to more actively participate in the creation of e-services for both citizens and businesses under the principles of public and private partnership.

ERP – the new partner of SAP AG

	„In resent three years ERP has paid a great attention to enforcement of competence implementing SAP. ERP has also generated many original and effective solutions. To my mind this particular contract is a solid argument that we have taken the right way and now ERP is one of the best specialists in Lithuania.“ – told Mr. Markas Zbarskis, the general manager of ERP.

	SAP AG Baltic States Alliance Management Director Mr. Aleksandr Jakovlev has pointed out that SAP lithuanisation and adaptation to Lithuania‘s business management and accounting demands is one of the greatest and most essential jobs of ERP.

	„That makes ERP job great and very important, because English is still not a language that everybody can understand. That is why SAP in English was not a subject for every Lithuanian organisation especially for those having a big number of employees in all levels. With a help of ERP it will be much easier now“, - told Aleksandr Jakovlev.

	At present SAP in Lithuanian language is already implemented in a quite a number of organisations.

	As Mr. Zbarskis reasoned ERP competence in implementing SAP is being recognized not only in Lithuania but also in neighborhood countries, where ERP participates in management systems implementation projects.

	“I have no doubt that now as we became a partners of SAP, we will be much more active in all Baltic region and other Western Europe countries”,- pinpointed the general manager of ERP.

	Lithuanian IT company ERP focuses on consultation, implementation and handling of management systems in all Baltic and other ES countries.

	It is important to mention that ERP which was established in 2002 also creates business and technology management strategies and installations, organises trainings for IT management specialists, creates and implements unique solutions, application programs, supplies systems integration and handling services.

	The most important partners of ERP are the world’s largest creator of business management systems SAP and a creator of information lifecycle management systems Documentum.

	At the moment ERP has 32 specialists.

	ERP took part in implementation process of emergency phone 112. It also implemented budget administration systems in 22 municipalities of Lithuania.

	The company has participated in business and information lifecycle management systems implementation in another Lithuania’s and Latvia’s public and private institutions.

ERP enters Estonia and Latvia

	According to ERP General Manager Markas Zbarskis, in Estonia and Latvia ERP will largely focus on the deployment of Documentum-based information management systems and SAP consultations.

	“We have already started business in Latvia, and the cooperation agreement with Abobase Systems will expand and reinforce our presence in the entire region,” says Zbarskis.

	He adds that following the signing of the agreement, in Estonia and Latvia ERP and Abobase Systems will operate as a single business unit with a clear division of activity and responsibility areas.

	“They have experience and competence in some of the fields we have not been engaged in and vice versa. Having joined our forces, we have become a strong team indeed able to offer any company in the region a comprehensive solution for IT implementation or updating,” says Zbarskis.

	For instance, apart from the previously available technologies, ERP will now be able to offer Lithuanian and Latvian companies EMC data repositories and other EMC technologies, whereas Abobase Systems will expand its solutions range with Documentum information management systems.

	General Manager of ERP, which is the only representative of the Documentum information management system for the Baltic region, is convinced that their product will undoubtedly be successful in state-of-the-art companies operating in the Baltic countries.

	“No wonder that developers of the EU main website have opted for the Documentum system, which is also customised for the hardware used by US authorities to check the fingerprints of all individuals entering the country,” comments Zbarskis.

	ERP, the Lithuanian IT company implementing projects in the EU countries, provides advice on choosing business and information management systems as well as provides their installation and maintenance.

	Having started operation in 2002, ERP also develops business and technology management systems, organises trainings for professionals, designs computer software, develops and implements new solutions and applications as well as provides systems integration and management services.

	In Lithuania, ERP has contributed to the implementation of the 112 emergency service, deployed budget management systems in the 22 Lithuanian municipalities and has been involved in the implementation of business and information management systems for a number of other public and private institutions in Lithuania and Latvia.

Leader of Information management software chooses ERP as representatives in the Baltic States

	“Document administration, content and project management as well as various other separate software packages were offered. No one could offer such comprehensive package of business process automation services as now offers Documentum”, - affirms Mr. Zbarskis.

	According to survey organisations achieved 20-50 percent savings of project management time after implementation of “Documentum” programs. Using the “Documentum” programs project manager could see the path of the document in his computer, directly contact colleagues while being connected to the Internet and take the necessary document from the archive. “Documentum” software substantially reduces amount of technical efforts needed for document search and management.

	According to Mr. Zbarskis biggest Lithuanian enterprises had already made queries about possible implementers of similar software. That is why, the IT specialist predicts, the product developed by US company “Documentum” and adapted by Lithuanian specialists will be popular.

	Integrated information management and collaboration software that allows automatic document management, distribution to archive and accessing it through the Internet from anywhere in the world is developed by “Documentum” since 1991.

	Currently “Documentum” is one of the leaders in information management software development. Programs developed by this US company are used by about 2500 large enterprises including BMW, “Hawlett-Packard”, “Hyundai”, “L’Orel”, „Bayer“, „Cisco“, „Delta Airines“, „GlaxoSmithKline“, „Hyundai“, „Johnson & Johnson“, „PepsiCo“ ir „Pfizer“.

	„Documentum“ has also created a special program that helps to protect US from terrorists. Company created a program that verifies identity of every person visiting country by his fingerprints.

	“Documentum” representing company “ERP” specialises in management consultancy and implementation of business management systems. Major company’s focus is consultations on choosing business management system, implementaition of mySAP and Microsoft Business Solutions, business process optimisation, MBS operation maintenance and training.

The Underestimated Importance of Consultancy Support in Business Management System Implementation

	ERP Director Markas Zbarskis commented that the poll showed over 55% of top managers would make significant changes in their systems, if they had to do it again – "Some managers would set different functional requirements, since the selected systems only partially met their expectations; others would choose simpler systems, since the complex solutions that they implemented were not cost-effective, since a great deal of their functionality remains unused."

	Almost all individuals who responded being dissatisfied with their current solution stated that if they had a chance to do the BMS project again, they would spend more time and resources on receiving quality consulting support. A common response was that quality consulting services are very important, since only experts working closely together with the organisation's management can accurately perform a needs analysis and help select the optimal system.

	36% of the managers polled said they would make minor changes if they had a chance to implement the BMS again, 5% stated they were satisfied and would not change anything, while 4% said that, given the choice today, they would not implement such a project again.

	The poll covered several dozen top managers of companies that recently implemented business management systems, and, had been using those systems for at least 6 months.

	"The results of the poll were not very surprising, since they mirrored the results of similar polls conducted in other Central and Eastern European countries. Business Management Systems are a new concept for many people in the region, so they naturally lack knowledge and experience that would allow them to make the right choice on their own." – said Mr. Zbarskis.

	The ERP Director also mentioned that latest survey results show that this type of situation only recently changed for the better in Western European countries – "The first way of these type of technologies is past for those countries. Many organisations have already built sufficient experience, and those who haven't have the luxury of learning from the mistakes of others. They now rely on consulting firms to help them make accurate needs analyses and select the right system."

	The selection of Business Management Systems in Lithuania is made more difficult by the fact that the majority of firms involved in BMS consulting and implementation services are associated with one or another particular software developer.

	"Naturally, such a company will limit the choices it gives to its clients and will show only the advantages of one or two products, while highlighting only the disadvantages of others" – said Mr. Zbarskis.

	ERP felt running such an opinion poll was important, considering the results of similar polls in other countries; and to help show organisations why it is worth investing in consultations from firms who are able to offer impartial advice that is independent of one or another software developer.

	The firm ERP specialises in the selection and implementation of business management systems and provision of consulting services.

	"ERP is not associated with any one software developer and we work with the products of many global software firms. Recommendations on which solution would be best for an organisation are made only after a detailed analysis of the organisation's needs. Experience shows that these types of consulting services help organisations save both time and money" – commented Mr. Zbarskis.

	He further commented that only an accurate needs analysis and detailed planning can help ensure that the implemented system will meet an organisation's needs and that that system will not need immediate modifications or upgrades.
